If you don't want to get felt up

 Take the Amtrak.

If the TSA’s new body imaging x-ray machines and pat-downs make you uncomfortable, you can now feel completely unsafe on long-distance transportation, thanks to Amtrak’s new lift on its gun ban. Starting on December 15, passengers will be able to transport unloaded guns in their checked luggage on Amtrak trains for the first time since bans put in place after September 11th terrorist attacks, along with up to 11 pounds of ammunition.
The new rules mirror airline rules, which allow passengers to carry guns and ammunition through checked bags as well, but Amtrak’s baggage cars aren’t secure like the cargo holds on planes, raising concerns of most people who don’t belong to the NRA. Amtrak doesn’t screen their passengers consistently, either, so you can worry about gun safety instead of pat-downs and body imaging machines.

I'm not comfortable with knowing that there's nothing stopping the  person in the seat next to me on the train from carrying a gun or knife on board. Or a bomb in his/her shoes or in his/her underwear.I guess I'll stick with the federally- enforced feeling up and almost probing of my body and others (rather than have a machine take images of my body parts) if that means I'll be safer on a plane.

Planes and trains are both safer than driving a car, but Americans always need something to worry about.
