Do nothing, and no one will talk about you.
This, I tell my nephew all the time. I love telling him stories of people who struggled and overcame obstacles (or had an average middle-class upbringing) and achieved success, because they kept their eyes on the prize. I want him to know that these people succeeded because there was something they wanted, and nothing was going to stop them. My nephew loves football. He lives, eats, and breathes football. He's 14 and plays for his high school, and though he dreams of winning a Heisman, but his coach told me he's lazy. He's also on the swim team. He loves to swim as much as he loves football..During the summer Olympics he was in awe of Michael Phelps' success, and I told him that Michael Phelps practice-swims at least 8 hours a day. I'm sure it's something he doesn't want to do, but he knows it's something he knows he has to do, in keeping his eye on his prize, that being, to win Olympic Gold medals.
I love, LOVE eating rich foods and desserts, but I have to keep my eyes on the prize, that being, weight-loss. That means I have to do not what I want to do, but what I have to do. I hate the gym. I would rather be any place else, but I have to do alot of cardio, alot of weight-lifting, and cutting back, significantly on the foods I love, to achieve my goals.
I think he gets it.
