The 7-year itch (in 99 words)

For as long as I’ve known Paul, he was in love with Vita (not their real names). The feeling was mutual. Everyone, including myself, envied their relationship. They completed each other’s sentences. When one itched, the other scratched. I’ve had relationships rise and fall while Paul and Vita maintained. We used them as examples that love can last forever.


7 years later, last week, Vita filed for divorce. We were all shocked. Paul wasn’t. I found yesterday that Vita was a mail-order bride from The Ukraine, and she had finally become an American Citizen, and didn’t need him anymore----
