It's so nice to be able to turn on the radio and find at least 2 stations that don't cater to music of the souljah boy or beyonce type or other derivatives of R&B music that the kids like. Not that I don't like Beyonce. I love her, but I also love what some people call 'grown-folks music'. I've been hearing alot of Bootsy Collins, George Clinton, Jill Scott, Lauryn Hill, Phyllis Hyman, Dru Hill, BabyFace, The Isley Brothers, Debarge, Teddy Pendergrass, Mary J Blige, The Gap Band, Roberta Flack, Boz Scaggs back to back.... even Gospel music: Anne Nesby, The Clark Sisters, Mary Mary, Bebe &; CeCe Winans, Donald Lawrence, from those same stations on today, Sunday.
Gospel Music.... I especially miss driving to church on sundays and listening to it on the radio.
I used to be up on new music, Gospel and secular. Now my mother lets me know when new Gospel music is out, and I have to go online or hear from friends in Milwaukee, DC, and Atlanta to hear about new secular music.
I feel like a fish in water, and I'm soaking it in as much as possible.

I hardly ever listen to the radio. I usually burn my own CDs, found on sites like Lala.com and Limewire.com.
I know the perfect grown folk album for you, Daij. Check out Raheem DeVaughn's new album Love and War Masterpeace. It reminds me of a young Marvin Gaye.
I purchased it last week. Best music I've heard thus far in 2010.
